In my understanding the artist is speaking to me personally on Bob Marley's past and how his success became known throughout the world. Not only did the artist cut out pieces of magazine pictures of Marley, but he cuts out written articles as well. Those articles stood out to me because instead of visually seeing Marley, the viewers can intellectually get information on his past. To me that is art; having both information and pictures to describe your piece. Understanding this piece of art helps me visualize art as a whole better.
I have chosen to use a piece of art from the Hiram van Gordon Memorial Gallery that  is located at Tennessee State University. Unfortunately, the collage of Bob Marley has no title or no name of the artist who created this piece in the gallery. I chose this work of art among the others because I was familiar with the face of Bob Marley. Although I have not listened to his music, Bob Marley has been known for his many songs and his illustrious dreadlocks. He has been the face of many t-shirt designs and posters throughout the twenty-first century. This collage depicts the life of Bob Marley. From his childhood to the music world, Bob Marley has been an icon and this collage shows how that statement is true. Around the collage are colors that represents him; green, black, yellow, and red. He was rastafarian and those colors were symbolic for their flag. Included inside the colors are cut- out magazine pictures and articles of Bob Marley that represent a timeline of his life.

The artists uses a number of important icons in this work of art to communicate his or her idea. She or he wants the viewer to understand Bob Marley through a collage of pictures. Also, the artist demonstrates how Marley is an icon to his supporters. Overall, the culture of Bob Marley is shown through out the collage. The artist wants the viewer to feel as if they apart of his culture. Its about understanding more of Marley and how he is iconic in the twenty-first century.

When Time magazine selected the British artist Banksy—graffiti master, painter, activist, filmmaker and all-purpose provocateur—for its list of the world’s 100 most influential people in 2010, he found himself in the company of Barack Obama, Steve Jobs and Lady Gaga. He supplied a picture of himself with a paper bag (recyclable, naturally) over his head. Most of his fans don’t really want to know who he is (and have loudly protested Fleet Street attempts to unmask him). But they do want to follow his upward trajectory from the outlaw spraying—or, as the argot has it, “bombing”—walls in Bristol, England, during the 1990s to the artist whose work commands hundreds of thousands of dollars in the auction houses of Britain and America. Today, he has bombed cities from Vienna to San Francisco, Barcelona to Paris and Detroit. And he has moved from graffiti on gritty urban walls to paint on canvas, conceptual sculpture and even film, with the guileful documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop, which was nominated for an Academy Award.

His art is very similar to the art that was presented on "Switched at Birth". Street art to me is an expression of the neighborhood around you. Either it's related to something personal or it's just to bring color onto its surroundings. Most of Banksy's work is street-art and graffiti work. He knows how to make his art look 3-D and that creates a different outlook. His work is different, but every artist has something uniquely special to create his or her look.

1.Angel Laronda
2. This blog will be consisted of the art I was amazed by while watching a Netflix series, Switched at Birth and artwork that I value because of my culture.
3. Everything is art because it is uniquely and individually created. I never had an infatuation with the craft of art or how portraits are painted. Once I watched an episode of Switched at Birth, the main actor "Bay Kennish" creates an illusion with another creation because it was not finished. This made the art creation more lively because of the difference in the art work. Addition to my artistic likes, I believe in the art of black beauty. I value the structure and the realism it shows in African American women. There is no art I dislike because I've never looked deeply into it to be upset by it.
