In my understanding the artist is speaking to me personally on Bob Marley's past and how his success became known throughout the world. Not only did the artist cut out pieces of magazine pictures of Marley, but he cuts out written articles as well. Those articles stood out to me because instead of visually seeing Marley, the viewers can intellectually get information on his past. To me that is art; having both information and pictures to describe your piece. Understanding this piece of art helps me visualize art as a whole better.
